John “Jack” O’Brien is a
TV writer in Los Angeles.
He is currently a story editor on the Chuck Lorre sitcom Leanne on Netflix.
Previously, he wrote for the CBS sitcoms B Positive and Man With A Plan, starring Matt LeBlanc. He also was a creative consultant on the HBO original series Bookie.
He also wrote monologue jokes for the Late Show with David Letterman for five years.
Back in the good old days of Twitter, I had an account with 5,000 followers, and my tweets were featured in Mic, Time Out New York, and The AV Club. But I deleted my account when Elon Musk changed Twitter into something more hateful. Now I mostly just post on my Instagram.
I wrote a Lincoln car commercial for the ad agency AMCI Global. I wrote and directed a play adapted from the George Saunders novel The Brief and Frightening Reign of Phil. I co-wrote and directed the one-man show “The Mike Hadge Trio” for the New York Fringe Festival. I wrote a handful of podcast episodes for History Daily.
